The studies found that Freo Street Doctor is critically important in providing essential health care to disadvantaged people, such as those who are homeless or otherwise disconnected from mainstream medical services. The research showed that patients seeking healthcare from Freo Street Doctor are living with an increasing number, and severity, of co-existing chronic conditions; with more than 50% of patients meeting the criteria for multimorbid conditions. WA YOUTH HEALTH POLICY: A NEW APPROACH TO YOUTH HEALTH WA has launched its first youth health policy, to target the specific needs of young Western Australians aged 10 to 24 years old. The WA Youth Health Policy 2018â€"2023 was developed in consultation with 120 young people, to reflect their unique needs and preferences. According to the Deputy Premier, Minister for Health and Minister for Mental Health, Hon Roger Cook MLA, "During this period of physical and emotional growth [10-24 years old], young people develop behaviours that have consequences for their future health. They also have specific health needs which need to be supported by mainstream health services." The policy reflects the need for tailored, youth-friendly services and supports to improve long-term health outcomes. We will continue to work in-line with the new policy, through the delivery of our headspace centres, YAppEE app and specialised child counselling.
